The KISS Kruise V - Alive 1975!!!

When we arrived in Miami on october 28th, have checked in at our hotel we went to the pre-party at the Hard Rock Cafe. We had a great time there with meeting Ken Kelly & J.R. Smalling!
The next day it was time for our KISS Kruise V pre-party on the Pearl and it was great to see a lot of familiar faces again. We feel like we are home, lol. After catching up with our KISS family we had to look out for the special KKV pre-party cup and lucky enough we got them!
KISS was already on board too, 1 day earlier than expected!
Later that day we checked out The Big Rock Show followed by a visit at the merchandise store. We got some T-Shirts, Hoodie, Bandana, Guitarpicks, Canholder & a Bag, there where a lot of items for sale.
After a visit at the restaurant we went to the Steel Panter show, it was a funny show but one time was enough for us.

The next day we stood op early, had breakfast and went to the pooldeck and saw that some friends where already standing front row. At first we had said to eachother we don't do that again, waiting for hours for the show, but when we saw that we now had the chance to get right in front of Gene we got the chills to go for it once again. So we did! Also there wasn't anything else happening that day untill the KISS show.
After the welcome toast it was time for our captians to took over the ship and around 4:30 PM it was time for the first unmasked electric sail away show ever! Also this show was my 50th KISS show and my lovely wife's 30th show!!!
KISS started the show with Flaming Youth (a track we haven't heard live before) and the crowd went nuts, this is what we want to hear, some deep cuts!
Here's our video of Flaming Youth:

The band was in a great mood en joked a lot during the show. KISS played some more rare tunes, like Mr. Speed and Strange Ways!
Here's our video of Strange Ways:

Also during the encores Paul asked the fans what they wanted to hear and we shouted for All Hells Breakin' Loose, so he started to sing/rap it and we helped him out, so cool!
We had a blast at this show, standing front row, great set list, caught some guitarpicks and what a better way to celebrate our 50th & 30th KISS concert this way?
Here's the setlist: Flaming Youth (First time played live since 1976) I Stole Your Love, Ladies Room (First time played live since 1978) Comin' Home, Plaster Caster, Mainline, Take Me, A World Without Heroes, Shock Me, Love Her All I Can, Strange Ways (First time played live since 1975) Mr. Speed (First time ever played electric) Goin' Blind, All the Way, Christine Sixteen. Encore: Makin' Love, All Hell's Breakin' Loose (snippet) Hide Your Heart & Shout It Out Loud.
Here's a selection of our photo's:

After the show we had to make sure that we got the Tommy Thayer Cup and we were lucky enough to get 1 of the last 8 cups that were over!
At 8 PM we saw Lita Ford live and her show we both wanted to see for sure. She was great and we loved the show, she played all her classics! Later that evening we also saw The Dead Daisies show and they rocked the place, we already saw them live during the European KISS 40th Anniversary Tour last june.

On saturday morning we had our KISS Photo Booth session where we had the chance to get photo's together with stage played KISS gear! The photo's behind the drums look so cool!

At 2 PM it was time for name that tune with Tommy Thayer were Tommy plays the guitarsolo of a KISS song and you had to guess what KISS song it is. We thought it was great to hear those guitarsolo's.
Here a 2 examples:

After Tommy I went to Doc McGee's Q&A and as always he has some great stories to tell, right after the Q&A was done I joined my wife at The Dead Daisies show, again they were great. When their show was done they did a signing session near the stage, we bought their album earlier this day, so we had a signed CD now!
Yes, we managed to get the Paul Stanley Cup today, lol.
So it was time to get something to eat now and get ready for our KISS indoor show at the Stardust Theater. When we arrived in the venue there were curtains for the stage, so we only could guess how it would look like. A little after 9 PM it was time and the curtains went open and KISS came on stage! Man, it looked like we traveled back in time, to 1975! Their stage looked almost exactly as in 1975 and their costumes aswell! Their stage apperance, looks & moves looked as we were watching a Alive show in 1975! KISS made sure that they did their home work!
KISS would play their entire Alive! album from beginning to end and started of course with Deuce and we were thinking, it's like we are in 1975 right now. This is what makes the KISS Kruise so special, a one of a kind experience, we'll never see again as like the Dressed To Kill Kruise from last year!
Here's our video of Firehouse:

We had a great spot at the show and we had a blast and before we knew it was over.
This was the setlist: Deuce, Strutter, Got to Choose, Hotter Than Hell, Firehouse, Nothin' to Lose, C'mon and Love Me, Parasite, She, Watchin' You, 100,000 Years, Black Diamond, Rock Bottom, Cold Gin, Rock and Roll All Nite & Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll. Encore: I Stole Your Love & Ladies Room.
Here's a selection of our photo's:

We were hungry after this show because off all jumping around all the time. Later that night we did meet Tommy Thayer and thanked him for this great Alive show!

Sunday was a little bit relax day for us when we docked in Ocho Rios Jamaica, we spend some time there and enjoyed some free time. Of course we had our Eric Singer Cup for this day! We had our Meet & Greet Photo with the band at 7:30 PM and as always we are still nervous to meet Gene, Eric, Paul & Tommy! The time we spend with them was special for us and all we could hope that our photo would turned up great. When we saw our photo later all we could think, man this photo looks awesome, especially this time Gene sticks out his tongue, awesome pic!!!
At 9 PM indoor show #2 began and we watch it for a hour on the big screen and than went to the pooldeck to see Lita Ford's show for the second time, but this time front row! Again a great performance by her. We closed the night watching The Big Rock Show.

On monday we had a full day for us with all the events that took place that day. First we went to the KISS Swap, than headed over to the Sixthman Q&A and got the news that there'll be a KISS Kruise VI next year from Miami! So this was good news for us and we hope we'll be kruisin' with KISS again next year. Also we heard rumors about a European tour in 2016 with dates in Germany, yes one more chance to see them!
After all this news it was time for the pizza party with Paul Stanley were he teaches us how to make pizza, lol.
Here's our video (a copple of minutes):

It was funny to see him gave a pizza class.
As soon it was over we headed over to the meet & greet with Lita Ford and we had a great photo's with her, she's such a nice person. During the Kruise we've meet members of The Dead Daisies as John Corabi, Marco Mendoza, Brain Tichy, Richard Fortus aswell Doc McGee, Francis & Red!
When we came back from our cabin we saw KISS leaving the elevator for their Q&A.
Here's our video:

The KISS Q&A was very funny, they pull jokes on eachother and we had a great time! Right after the Q&A it was time for the Belly Flop with the Simmons family. Great to see them laugh about the jumps in the pool and gave the contesters numbers for it. When it was done it was time for us to get the last cup, the Gene Simmons Cup to make or set complete. and we managed to do so!
The last band member activity was Eric Singer's Allmost Famous were he announced the 4 bands who won the battle earlier. So we had a full day to see all these events and had not the chance to eat, so we headed over to the restaurant to get some of Paul Stanley's Pizza!
Here's a photo-slide show of all the bandmember activities:

During our stay in the restaurant we also meet Eric Singer!

On our last night on the Pearl after watching the last few songs from The Big Rock Show, we saw The Dead Daisies for their third show in the Atrium, front row and saw a great show again, expecially the drumsolo of Brain Tichy during their KISS cover of Parasite, he played it exactly, complete with Paul's raps, as we all know it, so cool!
Later that night we meet the members of the band aswell Doc, Red & Francis and so came our 4th mission as Commanders to the end on the KISS Kruise V!
Here's our recap of our KISS Kruise V Experience:

We had such a awesome time again and this was our 4th KISS Kruise and every Kruise we did was special, we have no favorite, all 4 they kicked ass!
Here's a recap of the KISS Kruise V, we're in this video!

Pre-Party KISS Kruise V!

On october 28th when we arrived in Miami for the KISS Kruise V, we went that evening to the Pre-Party at the Hard Rock Cafe with special guests Ken Kelly & J.R. Smalling!
Ken Kelly was the artist who did the KISS Destroyer (& Resurected) Love Gun album covers aswell Ace Frehley's Space Invader cover. Also he did some art on Gene Simmons basses.

So I had my vintage original, from the 70's, Destroyer album cover with me for signing. When he signed it he asked if it was a new copy of the 40th anniversay series, but I said it was my original one bought in the 70's. He was impressed how it looked, like new, lol.

Also one of the original members of the KISS crew from the early days, J.R. Smalling, was special guest at this pre-party. Together with Peter "Moose" Oreckinto, Rick Munroe & Mick Campise he wrote the book Out On The Streets about stories on the road with KISS in their early days.
He sold copies of this book and we want to meet him and get a signed copy of it!

He personalised the book for us, such a nice guy!

It was great to meet both and a perfect start to the KISS Kruise V...

KISS & Ace Frehley European Tour Overview!

The KISS & Ace Frehley European Tour has ended!
And what a blast we had with all those shows! After 3600 KM driving to 3 different countries (Holland, Belgium & Germany) we saw 6 KISS shows & 3 Ace gigs!
We started with the Rock im Revier festival in Gelsenkirchen, followed by Hamburg, Berlin & Leipzig, all in Germany. Than Ace Frehley took over and we saw him in live in Amsterdam & Zoetermeer, both in Holland and in Bochum, Germany. Our roadtrip ended with 2 more KISS shows in Amsterdam (NL) and @ Graspop, Belgium!
We still in are KISS & Ace mode, we still float about it all. Especially when we did our KISS Meet & Greet in Berlin as a special 5th wedding anniversary gift to ourselfs!
There were many highlights for us during all the gigs, first we were front row at all the 3 Ace shows and almost at all the KISS shows we went to! Second, that Paul Stanley recognized us during the M&G and later at the show, he pointed at us, such a great moment that we'll never forget! Third, all the KISS guitarpicks we caught and what about Gene Simmons Blood Cup in Gelsenkirchen! Also we caught several Ace Frehley guitarpicks, drumstick and he even gave us his towel in Zoetermeer! Unbelieveble!
Also it was great to see old friends and make some new friends at all the shows, people came up to us and gave their compliments about our KISS Blog!
And let's not forget what a pleasure it was to watch all those shows, seeing KISS live is a experience, a adventure! Nothing can compare with the mighty KISS! It's maybe weird, but everytime we'll see them live, we become a little bit more fan! Also Ace Frehley was awesome, he played really, really good, had a great band and we loved to see him perform!
As I said before, it's not easy to come to earth, with all the usually daily common things you used to, like work and everything else when you still are in a KISS & Ace mode - and we still floating.
We hope they'll tour Europe once again in the future, because this tour was quite succesfull for them and before they do, we're looking forward to the KISS Kruise V in october...

KISS Live @ Graspop!

On Friday june 19th we closed the KISS 40th Anniversary World Tour off for us with show #6, KISS live @ Graspop! KISS headlined this festival for the third time!
When we arrived @ the festival we checked out the metal stands who sold all kind of items, records, figures, shirts and more. We took our time, because most of the bands playing there weren't our thing.
KISS would hit the stage @ 10:30 PM, so we had the time. But still we wanted to have a good spot and we couldn't resist to go for it, so around 7 PM we went to the stage to try to get a good spot. And with some patient and luck we got in front at Gene's side!

And at 10:35 it was showtime for our band: KISS, playing for 65.000 people!
And when we leave around 65.000 people behind us we knew we did it again. After all those shows during their Euro tour KISS still kicked ass tonight! The setlist was the same as the one in Amsterdam. A funny thing was that Gene, when he was up above the stage during God Of Thunder, he said "Godverdomme, Ohhhhhh & Goed"! So funny and he got all the laughs from the fans below him! This time Paul flew quite a long way to the stage in the field during Love Gun.

As I said before this was our last show of their Euro tour (we saw them in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig & Gelsenkirchen) and we wanted to see it all for 1 last time, so we did and had a awesome time again. We even managed to catch 4 Guitarpicks that night!
KISS ended the show, of course, with Rock And Roll All Night together with a hugh confetti storm and pyro's and bombs!

*(c) 2015. All personal photo’s/slideshows/filmed footage may only be used by others if is reference/linked to this site or me and ask me first!

KISS Live In Amsterdam!

It has been a long wait, KISS played for the last time in Holland on june 18th 2010 in Arnhem! And today, exactly 5 years later their back in Holland in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam!
We arrived early at the venue, because we wanted a good spot at the show and we knew there were around 30 fans who had early entry tickets. Lucky enough around 10 fans waited there when we arrived. We talked with fans and before we knew it the doors went open. We had to run like hell to try to got a good spot and we did, front row between Paul & Tommy!

At 9:30 PM it was time with this announcement: "You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best, The Hottest Band In The World...KISS"!!!
With a lot of smoke, pyro and bombs KISS opened their show with Detroit Rock City followed Deuce, Psycho Circus & Creatures Of The Night, 4 show openers at a row and they just got started!
This was show #5 for us (we saw them in Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Berlin & Leipzig) and we still got the goose bumbs! Everytime we see them it is a party all over again and tonight it's no different! Especially when you're front row, it's like you're sucked into the show and nothing beats a KISS show!
Gene spit fire and did his bloody bass solo, flew up to the little platform above the stage to play God Of Thunder. Tommy shooted off rockets, Eric pounded the drums like a Cat and Paul flew over the crowd to the little stage in the middle to perform Love Gun, we almost could touch him went he flew over us!
When Paul announced Hell Or Hallelujah he announced it as a Kliss-classic, he said: "what the hell I'm saying, a Kliss-classic?", lol.

They dropped Parasite and played Cold Gin instead. This was the setlist: Detroit Rock City, Deuce, Psycho Circus, Creatures Of The Night, I Love It Loud, War Machine (Gene spits fire) Do You Love Me, Hell Or Hallelujah with Guitar and Drum Solo, Calling Dr. Love, Lick It Up, Bass Solo (Gene spits blood and flies) God Of Thunder, Cold Gin, Love Gun (Paul flies out to the crowd) Black Diamond. Encore: Shout It Out Loud, I Was Made For Lovin' You & Rock And Roll All Nite.

It was great to see KISS in our home country again! The band was awesome tonight and there's so much to see at a KISS show, it's a adventure! All we can say we had a blast again!
Here's a selection of the many photo's we took from tonights show, enjoy...

Ace Frehley Live In Bochum!

After seeing Ace Frehley live in Amsterdam & Zoetermeer last week, it was now time for show #3 in Bochum, Germany today (june 15th)
Only a few fans were waiting when we arrived at the venue. So we had a good chance to get a good spot at the show. As soon as the doors went open we took a good sprint and...yes we did it again...front row!

Ace took the stage at 9:45 PM and from start to finish we had a awesome time! Ace enjoyed playing and singing his songs. This time he played Strutter & 2 Young 2 Die, who weren't performed earlier in Amsterdam or Zoetermeer.
We we're lucky to get another Ace guitarpick and when he did his smoking guitarsolo, he did it right in front of us and we can tell you, there was a lot of smoke, lol. I could even touch his guitar when he was playing, so cool!
This was the setlist tonight: Rocket Ride, Gimme a Feelin', Toys, Parasite, Love Gun, Breakout, Space Invader, 2000 Man, Strutter, Snowblind, Rock Soldiers, Bass Solo, Strange Ways, New York Groove, 2 Young 2 Die, Shock Me with Ace Frehley Guitar Solo, Cold Gin, Rip It Out. Encores: Detroit Rock City & Deuce.

We had a great time again at this third show and all we can say is that Ace played really good and it was fun to watch him perform, also he had a great band with him, so if you didn't see a show you really missed something!
Here's a selection of the photo's we took of tonight, so enjoy...

Ace Frehley Live In Zoetermeer & Amsterdam!

After seeing our first Ace Frehley show in Amsterdam 2 days ago, it was time to see show #2 in Zoetermeer today! After a hot car drive we arrived @ the Boerderij and we were the first, lol. We met Richie Scarlet again and talked a bit with him about the Hamburg gig last night. The show tonight was sold out, so it would be packed in there!

As soon the doors went open we got in and got the best spot in the house, right in front of Ace!
At 9:45 PM the Spaceman walked on the stage and from the first song Rocket Ride till the last Rip It Out, we had a blast! We could see everything Ace did, we could feel his sweat on us!
As in Amsterdam, Ace was in a good spirit, he shooked hands and you could see that he loved to play here!
Ace gave a guitarpick to us and to our suprise also his towel, we're so happy with it and will get a great spot in our KISS collection!
Here's a video of Shock Me with his smoking guitarsolo...

Setlist was almost the same as 2 days ago (see slideshow) and he played for about 90 minutes.
As we said before, we had a blast tonight and we think the shows we saw so far were better than the shows in 2009, Ace is really, really good these shows!
We're looking forward to show #3 in Bochum in a copple of days.
Here's a selection of photo's from tonight, enjoy...

2 days earlier, after seeing 4 KISS shows last week in Germany, we saw our first (out of 3) Ace Frehley show in Amsterdam!
When we arrived @ the Melkweg there were only a few fans waiting, so we knew we'll get a good spot tonight. The bus of the band was parked right in front of the venue, not sure if Ace was on board, but we found out that he was on the way from the airport. But guitarist Richie Scarlet came out of the bus and he was very nice to take a copple of photo's with us!

Around 7:15 PM the doors went open and as soon we were in, we went straight to the stage and yes, front row!
The "oude zaal" is not so big and you could also watch the show from a standing balcony. Around 9:25 PM it was time for Ace and all we can say is that he was in a good mood, making jokes and smile a lot. They started with Rocket Ride followed by Gimme A Feelin'.
A lot of Ace classics were played, as Break Out, Rip It Out & Space Invader...

Also some KISS tunes were played, like Love Gun, Deuce & 2000 Man, (see the photo slideshow for setlist) the band played great but the sound was loud!
There was a funny moment in the show when Ace was hiding behind a curtain, so funny! We had a great spot and had a awesome time at the show and loved every minute of it. Ace & Richie gave us a guitarpick in our hands, so cool!
Around 11 PM it all was over and we're looking forward to see Ace in Zoetermeer again.
Here's a selection of photo's from the show, enjoy...

Our KISS Meet & Greet Experience in Berlin & Report on Hamburg & Leipzig!

After a 5 hours drive by car we arrived at our hotel in Hamburg on june 2th. After we've checked in we went to the O2 Arena. Lucky enough there were not many fans in line waiting. Talked to fans as we were waiting untill the doors went open and as soon they did we took a sprint to the stage and...yes we did it again, front row on Gene's side!

Around 9:15 PM it was time for our band KISS and as 2 days before @ Rock Im Revier we enjoyed every minute of it.
This time the whole stage was set up and indeed it was the same as we saw in Las Vegas last year, a great stage with big screens on, behind and on the top, great light show and of course many bombs and pyro's, we could feel the heat of them were we stood!
The band played tight and sounded great! They played the same set as Rock Im Revier but it didn't matter to us, we cann't get enough, lol. Still got chills when Gene gives us his demon look! The arena was almost sold out and the vibe was good. KISS played for 100 minutes and before we knew it, show #2 was over. After the show we got a drink with some fellow Dutch fans and had a great time.

Next up was Berlin, we arrived at our hotel around 2 PM, checked in and relaxed a bit, enough time for a relax diner and sightseeing. We had time because it was a special day for us! We celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary with a Meet & Greet with KISS! What can we say about it? It's always awesome to meet the band and we had blast doing it and are so happy with our photo's!!!

When we got back in the venue we decided to take a spot @ the small stage, were Paul will come over during Love Gun. A moment later we saw Shannon walking by and she had a place on the special stage right in front of us. We waved to her and she said hello to us. Before we knew it, it was time for KISS to hit the stage.
With a spot from the middle of the field, we had a different view on the stage we don't see often, lol. Now we could see how the stage and light show looks from here and we must say, it looked awesome and we enjoyed the show even from this spot! Gene didn't fly during God Of Thunder because of technical problems, but Paul flew to us at the small stage during Love Gun and we had a great view at him!
Again the show was great and we had a good time! Here's a video of Parasite...

Next up, show #4, Leipzig. When we arrived at the arena we saw that there were 2 entries, a west and east entry. Which would we choose? We went for the east entry and it was the right choice because fewer people were waiting there. This arena was smaller that the O2's and we hoped for a good spot. Lucky enough we did, front row @ Tommy's side! We saw Doc walking by a few times and Danny aswell who welcomed us to the show.

Before we knew it, much earlier as we expected, @ 8:45 PM it was party time again! And from the start to end there was a awesome vibe, this was the best show we saw so far! Everyone was jumping, singing along with each song, incredible to be there!
We had a blast and loved every minute of it, especially when Paul came over and was right in front of us! He recognized us and pointed to us, this was such a special moment that we'll never forget!
This was the setlist for all 3 shows:
Detroit Rock City, Deuce, Psycho Circus, Creatures of the Night, I Love It Loud, War Machine (Gene spits fire) Do You Love Me, Hell or Hallelujah, Calling Dr. Love, Lick It Up, (Bass Solo, Gene spits blood and flies) God of Thunder, Parasite, Love Gun, Black Diamond. Encore: Shout It Out Loud, I Was Made for Lovin' You & Rock and Roll All Nite.
We had a incredible time at the shows and are in such a KISS mode that we would go to more shows if we could. Can we wait 2 more weeks to see them in Amsterdam again? We have too!
Next up: Ace Frehley in Amsterdam!
Here's a selection of photo's from the 3 shows, enjoy...

KISS Live @ Rock Im Revier!

We arrived @ the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen around 2 PM for the Rock Im Revier festival, with KISS as headliner.
And...we did it again, front row at Gene's side!
What we could see of the stage is that there wasn't no spider, but a part of the Las Vegas stage. We had a few hours to kill, but around 9:15 PM it was time for the Hottest Band In The World!
From the start of the show it was party time again for us! They started with Detroit Rock City and all the classics were played. Gene aswell Paul said "hello Dusseldorf", but we're in Gelsenkirchen, lol.
During Hell Or Hellalujah there was kind of a new thing, a kind of drumsolo followed by the solo from Parasite!
Gene spit fire during Warmachine and did his bloody bass solo. I managed to get Gene's Blood Cup and was so happy to finally got this! This will be a eye catcher in our collection!
Gene did flew during God Of Thunder but Paul didn't fly during Love Gun. Tommy did his guitarsolo with firework, but shortened. But it didn't matter to us because we had a great time and we'll see their whole show during the upcoming shows we'll attend.
KISS played over 90 minutes, but's that's normal for a festival. But our hunger is not stilled and we're looking forward to the other 5 shows the upcoming weeks!
This was the setlist: Detroit Rock City, Deuce, Psycho Circus, Creatures of the Night, I Love It Loud, War Machine (Gene spits fire) Do You Love Me, Hell or Hallelujah, Calling Dr. Love, Lick It Up, (Bass Solo, Gene spits blood and flies) God of Thunder, Parasite, Love Gun, Black Diamond.
