KISS Live In Cologne!

On july 2th we saw KISS live in Cologne, it was their last final tour show in Germany ever. We arrived at the Lanxess Arena around 7 pm, we had super seats, first row at Gene’s side.
Around 9 pm the lights went out and on the screens there’s a video showing that the band is walking to the stage. Here’s the video of it:

Moments later we heard the famous announcement: You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best, The Hottest Band In The World: KISS!
As soon as the curtains came down, with Detroit Rock City, we were cheering, jumping, singing along with every song they played this evening.

This show was special to us in many ways, one of them was that this was my lovely wife's 54th and my 75th KISS show!
The venue was packed with 17.000 fans and sold out. Everyone on the balconies was standing and the party was on.

The band was in top form, Paul is still jumping, dancing and moves like he’s a young boy, Gene is still the lord of the wastelands, sticking out his tongue, drooling, spitting fire. Tommy ‘s guitar solos are out of this world and Eric pounds the drums like a warrior.

During Calling Dr. Love Gene noticed us and kept pointing to us. Such a great moment!
The inflatable figures were back at each side of the stage (they weren’t there in Brussels) but the screens at the sides and in front of Eric’s drumkit were not there this time. Some changes in the setlist compared to the Amsterdam & Brussels shows we attended, Do You Love Me was dropped and I Was Made For Lovin' You was moved to the encores. Gene is now spitting fire during I Love It Loud. Also the guitar duel between Paul & Tommy was now on the risers at the ends of the stage.

There were some funny moments in the show, Gene let the crowd knew he can spell Köln (Cologne) with an Umlaut. He also spit water on some fans, pretending it was raining, Paul beated on Gene’s armor, pretending it hurted, lol.
Of course all the well-known show highlights passed by, Tommy shooting off rockets during his guitar solo and letting some ufo pods exploding, Eric’s drum solo, with towel and his drumkit rising up.

Gene spitting fire and his bloody bass solo, followed by his flight to the platform high above the stage during God Of Thunder (always my favorite moment of the show)

Paul flew over the crowd to the little stage at the back of the venue to perform Love Gun and the beginning of Black Diamond. And we loved everything!
With KISS balloons coming down from the ceiling of the venue during I Was Made For Lovin’ You we knew which song was up next.

It would be their last ever played song in Germany: Rock And Roll All Night with lots of confetti, garlands, bombs, pyro and smoke. Gene & Tommy going up on the risers at the ends of the stage, Eric going up on his drum riser and of course, the ultimate frontman, Paul smashing his guitar.

Then it was over, with Gene, Paul, Tommy & Eric bow to the fans and Paul saying: We’ll never forget you they all thanked the fans and then they left the stage…(BTW can you spot us on the photo below?)

We were sweaty, hot, covered by confetti, feeling mixed emotions…sad…excited…al at once!

After 44 years and 37 years of obsessed KISS fandom respectively for myself and Marina and after 75 and 54 live performances under our belts, KISS Kruises and a lot of personal meetings and interactions with band members over those decades it all came to this epic finale in Europe!
It hasn’t really sunk in yet that this show in Cologne is probably our last. If this is indeed the last time we’ve see KISS in Europe or worldwide, we want to thank Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss, Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick, Tommy Thayer & Eric Singer for all shows they give between 1976 & 2023 in Europe! All the awesome, fantastic & fun times we had, all the emotions we experienced, all the excitement we had everytime we saw a show.
Thank you KISS, it was a extravanganza, heartbreaking and unforgettable journey!
But the party isn’t over till it’s really over, as Paul said in Brussels during the sound check: there’s more to come for KISS

This was the setlist: Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, Deuce, Warmachine, Heaven’s On Fire, I Love It Loud (Gene breathes fire) Say Yeah, Cold Gin (Tommy’s guitar solo) Lick It Up, Makin’ Love, Calling Dr. Love, Psycho Circus (Eric’s drum solo) 100.000 Years (outro only) God Of Thunder (Gene’s bloody bass solo) Love Gun (Paul flies over the crowd) & Black diamond. Encores: Beth (Eric plays piano) I Was Made For Lovin’ You (balloons) & Rock And Roll All Night.

Our KISS Meet & Greet Experience In Brussels!!!

On june 13th we had our KISS Meet & Greet Experience In Brussels, Belgium!!!

We're so happy with our great photo's backstage at their last final show in Belgium!
When it was our turn to meet the band Paul Stanley pointed to us and said it's great to see you again, and Gene Simmons was so awesome to us, as was Tommy Thayer & Eric Singer! We had such cool interactions with them all, we couldn't have a better experience with our favorite band! We had a such incredible time and a special big thank you for our special friend who made this possible for us...

These cool items we got @ the Meet & Greet; laminates & wristbands!
Backside of the laminate.

Here we are with our friend Keith Leroux.

The Soundcheck:

Earlier this day we had the opertunity to attend the KISS soundcheck in the afternoon!

At front row we watch the band perform: Plaster Caster, Got To Choose, Nothin' To Lose, Hotter Than Hell & Goin' Blind

Here's our video of Plaster Caster:

During the Q@A there was a interesting question: what will happen after the last KISS tour show? With Paul answering: KISS will continue in more than 1 way, a lot more is coming...

Here's our video of Got To Choose:

We had such a blast @ the sound check, they had fun and we had fun.

The Show:

After our Meet & Greet with the band we got to our seats and after a few minutes it was time for our favorite band, we just saw a copple of minutes ago!
You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best: KISS!!!
As soon as the curtain came down, Gene, Paul & Tommy came down to the stage on their platforms surrounded with a lot of pyro, bombs and smoke, with Eric behind his drumkit coming down behind them! .
Here's our video from I Love It Loud:
Paul said that this was the 6th time that they played in the Brussels and the fans were awesome & crazy here.
Here's is our video of the incredible Eric Singer dumsolo:

It was hot in de Palais 12 and it would become much hotter with one of our all time favorites: God Of Thunder.
Here's our video of I Was Made For Lovin' You, their № 1 hit in Europe:

After Black Diamond it was time their first encore with Eric behind the piano.
Here's our video of Beth:

Second encore was Do You Love Me with the KISS balloons falling down on the fans. Next it was the song we didn't want to hear yet, we still hadn't enough. But the end of the show was coming with of course Rock And Roll All Night with a lot of confetti, bombs, pyro and smoke. Gene & Tommy went up on the risers with Eric up on his drumriser and of course Paul smashing his guitar.

And then the show is over. Feeling hot but satisfied! Setlist was the same as in Amsterdam last night.

We had a amazing time!
Words can say not enough how we feel with meeting our favorite band today! We'll never forget this special day!

There'll be 1 more European show for us, on july 2th in Cologne, Germany...

KISS Live In Amsterdam!

On june 12th we saw KISS Live In Amsterdam (The Netherlands) on Marina's birthday!
We we're so excited to see our favorite band again, we thought it would never happen again and that when we saw them last year in Amsterdam it would be their last show in Europe! but hey, here we are and ready to rock and roll tonight!
We arrived at 7 PM at the Ziggo Dome in hot weather. When we were inside the venue, we checked out the merchandise, bought some T-shirts, tourbook & pins. We got to our seats, to Gene's side, and a copple of minutes for 9 PM it was time for the Hottest Band In The World...KISS!
As soon the curtain was gone, we saw Gene, Paul & Tommy coming down each on the platforms to the stage with a lot of smoke and fire, behind them on the drumriser was Eric coming down too!
Here's our video of Detroit Rock City:

KISS played tight and sounded great! There was a great vibe.

So we enjoyed every minute of the show and we sang so loud with each and every song, like Shout It Out Loud, Deuce, Warmachine, & Say Yeah!
Here's our video of: Cold Gin with Tommy's guitarsolo:

Every time we'll see KISS we got the chills and are so excited to see a show again, we cann't get enough of it.

After Lick It Up they had a "new" song added to their setlist, that we haven't heard live for a long time: Makin' Love, here's our video:

Also not forget to report, that Gene not wear his skin guards on his legs, probaly to be more comfortable and mobile or because of the heat.

When it was time for Gene's solo, he stood on the middle ufo platform to do his bloody bass solo and than the whole platform went up above the stage and he performe his signature song God Of Thunder.
Here's our video of it:

Gene's solo is always 1 of our favorite moments of the show!

The stage had some new elements, at each side and below Eric's drumkit there were extra videoscreens placed. Another favorite moments of the show is when Paul flew over the crowd to the little stage back of the venue to perform Love Gun.
Here's our video:

Of course there were a lot of pyro's, smoke & flames that makes a show a KISS show. After Black Diamond they went of stage for a small break and the first encore was Beth with Eric behind the piano. After Do You Love Me and the KISS balloons coming down it was time for their grand finale: Rock & Roll All Night, with a lot of confetti, bombs, pyro and smoke. Gene & Tommy went up high on the risers with Paul smashing his guitar.
Here's our video of Do You Love Me & Rock & Roll All Night:

Than it was all over, their last show in The Netherlands ever! We were sweaty & hot, but feeling so excited, what a show, we had a blast!

We knew this wasn't our final show ever yet, we've a few more ahead of us. Coming up next is: Brussels...

This was the setlist: Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, Deuce, Warmachine (Gene breathes fire) Heaven's On Fire, I Love It Loud, Say Yeah, Cold Gin (with Tommy's guitar solo) Lick It Up, Makin' Love, Calling Dr. Love, Psycho Circus (with Eric's drum solo) God Of Thunder (with Gene's bass solo & flying to the platform above the stage) Love Gun (Paul flying to stage) I Was Made For Lovin' You & Black Diamond. Encore: Beth (Eric on piano) Do You Love Me & Rock and Roll All Night.

KISS Off The Soundboard: Live In Poughkeepsie!

Today I got the new KISS Off The Soundboard: Live In Poughkeepsie on CD & vinyl as birthday gifts from my lovely wife!
This fifth official soundboard live release is from the show on November 28th 1984 (only 24 days earlier I saw my first KISS show in Zwolle, Netherlands) during their Animalize World Tour and featuring, besides Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, for the first time Eric Carr & Mark St. John!

These are the German releases, because of the censored KISS logo and white packages instead of the brown ones. The black vinyl 2-LP set has only a white sheet in front of the brown package, but the 1-CD package is total white with also the censored logo pressed to the actual CD's.
Tracklist: Detroit Rock City, Cold Gin, Creatures Of The Nighs, Fits Like A Glove, Heaven's On Fire (guitar Solo) Under The Gun, War Machine (Drum Solo) Young And Wasted (Incomplete & Bass Solo) I Love It Loud, I Still Love You, Love Gun, Black Diamond, Oh! Susanna, Lick It Up & Rock And Roll All Nite (Incomplete)
This is be far one of the coolest and interresting release with Eric & Mark and I'm so happy with these birthday gifts...

Celebrating KISS 50th Anniversary!!!

Today we're Celebrating KISS 50th Anniversary!!!
Exactly 50 years ago today, on January 30, 1973 KISS performed their very first concert at Popcorn (The Coventry) in Queens, NY. The band performed 2 sets at the club that night for a crowd of under 10 people.
A lot have changed since that day for the band and they became the hottest band in the world, just a few years later, selling millions of albums!
There have been different line ups and different situations that arose, but every member of this band deserves to be recognized as being a part of the magic that is KISS!
Their 5 decades of KISStory is astonishing!

I became a fan in 1979 and Marina in 1986, what a ride it's been since then!
We saw our favorite band live all over the world, experienced KISS Kruises, had personal meetings and interactions with band members over all those decades!
Never ever we could’ve imagine that in 2023 KISS would be still around and celebrating their 50th anniversary today!
We congrat KISS with this amazing achievement and milestone in their career!
We'll celebrating their 50th anniversary today and during the upcoming European shows this summer...
