Backstage With Eric Singer!

On friday november 21th we went to Essen to see the show of Alice Cooper with on the drums Eric Singer.
After driving for 1 hour in rain and snow, we arrived at the Gruggahalle. First we went for something to eat and around 6 pm we were at the front of the hall, 30 minutes later the doors went open and we went directly into the hall to make sure we got a good spot, we had on the right side of the stage, first in line.

At 8 pm Whitesnake took over the stage and did a 90 minutes set, we saw them earlier this year at the Arrow Rock Festival were they opened for KISS! At 10 pm it was time for Alice Cooper, for me it was the first time I saw him live. Alice opened the show with It’s Hot Tonight. He also did a copple of songs from his new album Along Came A Spider and of course all the classic Cooper hits like, 18, Schools Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy and Poison where played. For us it was cool to see Eric on the drums, he has a different drumstyle than when he’s playing with KISS and it’s cool to see him using a double bass. During Eric’s drumsolo he got some "help" from the guitarplayers who played along with him on some extra snare drums! Alice 90 minutes horror show, including the hanging part, was very cool to watch and we have enjoyed his show.

After the show it was time for us to go backstage. In the room were some other fans, just relaxing and drinking. We wait to see what was comming. We were welcomed by Alice’s tourmanager, who directly said we had the wrong shirts on, lol. First Chuck Garrick came in, he said hi to every one and started talking to the fans. A copple of minutes later Eric came into the room and he spotted us right away and came directly to us, asking us about our KISS shirts and why the German T-shirts still have that rediculois ZZ logo, he didn’t understood it. He than saw our KISS Meet & Greet pics and wanted to see them and asked if we wanted to get them signed, of course he signed them right away, we talked some more and than he went looking for a sandwich. Eric talked to the other fans and after a while he came back and we took some photo’s with him.

We got some Alice Cooper guitarpics, including on from Eric (!) The other bandmembers dropped in and they all just mingled around the fans, talking and taking pictures with them. Eric came back to us and I asked him about the new KISS-album rumours (said they aren’t recording and that Paul was up to the idea of recording a new album) and the upcoming ESP Euro tour in Februari 2009 (said they would have a cool setlist and that Bruce would be spit fire, lol) All in all, it was very cool to experience all what happened backstage, all were relaxed and Eric took really time for us. We stayed for over 90 minutes and saw the band leaving to the tourbus. We had a great time and we’ll never forget it! All we can say, thank you to a special friend!

One Last KISS - Graspop Festival 28-6-2008

Last night it was my very last KISS show of this Alive 35 European tour! KISS played as headliner at the Belgium Graspop Festival in Dessel, started @ 11:30 pm and ended around 1:50 am, so you can say that their last show was on june 29th in Europe (the band flew back @ 3:30 am from Frankfurt to the US!) KISS was a kind of weird band in the list of bands that performed that day. As headliner KISS played for around 50.000 people and a lot of them weren’t fans, but I know for sure that they turned them over with a great performance in the open air, with more pyro’s, bombs, fireworks as usual!

They played the same setlist and sounded great, a little bit tired, but still kicking ass! During 100.000 Years they had some PA problems and the sound went dead 3 times, during Eric’s drumsolo, in the middle of the song and during Paul’s jam/rap! Lucky enough after that the PA stayed on. Also Paul asked the crowd where they from, and when he called out for The Netherlands, we yelled as hard as possible (but I guess not many fans from Holland were there…) All the gimmicks were done and they really like to play open air. Almost 2 am in the morning everything was over, little bit sad that it was our last show, I hope so that they’ll come back next year, as Paul said on stage,
I know for sure that I’ll be there!!!

I did 7 shows this European tour and I’m glad that I had the chance to see them as much I can, never thought that they would come to Europe after all those years. If you ask me which show of these 7 I saw was the best, I’ve to say by far the first show in Oberhausen on may 9th! Why? because I had that day my Meet & Greet with the band, and I’ll never forget that experience! Also the show was awesome that night, seeing them after all those years was just amazing, the setlist was also 3 songs longer than later in the tour. But every show I’ve attended had something special, like the one in Mannheim where I had a good spot in the front row of the stage. Both Arrow & Graspop festival where, on a personal level, very special for me. Seeing KISS in a small hall in Luxemburg was also a gig to remember…

KISS Live In Esch-Alzette 26-6-2008

On june 26th it was time for my next KISS show. After work I drived for about 2 hrs till arrived at the Rockhall in Esh-Alzette (Luxembourgh) in the middle of nowhere, it was located in a factory-erea. It was for the very first time ever that the band played in Luxembourgh. At 6:30 pm I was at the hall and on this warm sunny day a lot of people turned up. The Rockhall can hold up to 6500 people and I think it was close to a sold out show, with this 6500 max it was a kind off intimed KISS show.  At 7 pm the doors went open and I went directly to the merchandise stand, because at the Arrow Rock Festival the tourbooks were sold out, I really wanted to buy one with the original logo. I bought several, for some friends too, and I saw that they’re sold a lot more items than on the German shows, like Keychains, Guitarstraps, Necklaces and more. So I did some shopping there. Than I went to the stage and I got a spot, front row, at the left of the stage, at Gene’s place! So I could take some good pics later.

KISS started their show later as usual, around 9:40 pm they hitted the stage and from the start the crowd went nuts. The band was tight and funn to watch. It was hot in there and secrurity give the fans at the front row water, so I glady welcome the waterbottles. At the spot where I’m stood, right before Gene, I got some cool interaction with the Demon, at several times he looked right into my eyes…Also Tommy interact with me. I think they’re starting to reconize me, lol. They played the same setlist and all the tricks were done. Did I mention that Gene’s son Nick was there too? Paul is still one of the greatest frontmen of all time, I really enjoyed his stage performance every time! KISS played till 11:50 pm and then it was all over. Outside the hall they sold all kinds of bootleg merchandise, like T-Shirts & Posters, so I bought a copple of them. I had a great time again, just 1 more show to go!

Enjoy the pics...

KISS Live In Stuttgart 18-6-2008

On june 18th I went to see my 5th KISS show in Stuttgart (Germany) I had to drive for almost 5 hrs and I was glad I stayed the night in a hotel, so that I don’t had to drive all the way back after the gig. I arrived around 4 pm at my hotel, checked in, got something to eat and arrived at the venue around 6 pm. Of course I was approach by fans who know me from this site, talked about the shows I had seen on this tour ect.

I had a seat ticket on the first row at the left side of the stage (this time took some special effects photo’s) and it was almost a sold out. This time I ran into Dean again, thanked him that he got my Meet & Greet Photo signed in Mannheim and Dean said he would give my message through to the "boys". I also saw Doc walking several times between the crowd. KISS gave another great show, but Paul’s voice seems to be in trouble again. Gene & Eric where fooling around with eachother, at one time Eric threw some drumsticks to him, lol. Tommy was also great to watch on stage. Setlist was the same as at previous shows.

Here are the photo's, enjoy...

KISS Live @ Arrow Rock 15-6-2008

So finally on June 15th KISS was in my home country, for the first time in 9 years! The band was headliner on the big Arrow Rock Festival, besides KISS also other bands performed, like Def Leppard & Whitesnake. Around 2 pm we arrived at the festival, as a luxe ticket holder, you became a parkplace right before the intrance of the place. Also you got a free T-Shirt and a place right before the big stage! And we could get free drinks all the day…

It was a rainy, cold day, but we had a awesome time. Also all the time during the day, people came up to me and give me compliments on my site. I met with friends from several forums ect. Fans came to the festival from worldwide and about 30.000 people saw KISS that night.

Around 9 pm it was time for the Hottest Band In The World. And I saw, once again a great show, for me a very special show…KISS did all the tricks in the show, even Paul did his flying act. Because of our good spots on the right side of the stage we had a lot of interacting with Tommy, he was smiling to us and looked us right in the eyes! Paul did wear his jacket later in the show and during the show he mentioned the KISS Army Netherlands! Also he hold up the Dutch flag on stage. Here’s the setlist:

Deuce, Strutter, Got To Choose, Hotter Than Hell (with Gene’s firebreathing) Nothin’ To Lose, C’mon And Love Me, Parasite, She (with Tommy’s Guitarsolo) 100.000 Years (With Eric Drumsolo and a cool jam session) Cold Gin, Let Me Go Rock & Roll, Black Diamond, Rock & Roll All Night, Shout It Out Loud, Lick It Up (with Won’t Get Fooled Again Part) I Love It Loud (With Gene’s bloody bassolo) I Was Made For Lovin  You, Love Gun (with Paul’s flying act) Fans singing the Dutch National Athem & Detroit Rock City.

I had a great time and here are some photo’s, enjoy…

After the show I picked up my copy of the Live CD and special Arrow Luxe T-shirt. KISS did only sell a small part of their merchandise at this festival, tourbooks sold out fast, so I missed mine, but will buy a copy on one of the other shows.

I came accros this photo of me and my girlfriend (right side) that was taking from the videoscreen during KISS performance @ the Arrow Rock Festival!

Ace Frehley Live In Tilburg 12-6-2008

On june 12th I went to my third and last Ace Frehley show, after seeing him in London & Cologne earlier. Around 4 pm I arrived at the 013 venue, with some other fans we went to grap something to eat & drink before the show started. Before we got let into the venue, we talked to a lot of fans, coming from the UK, Belgium & Germany. When the doors opened I directly went to the stage and got me a good spot, right before Ace!

Around 9 pm the intro started and right behind that Ace took the stage and started with Rip It Out and from that the crowd jumped and sing along with him. The band sounded much better and also the music wasn’t that loud. Ace played the same, shorter set list as in Cologne, instead of the full setlist as in London (that included songs as Hard Times) Ace had funnplaying that night and the interaction between him and the fans was great. I thought that this show as even a little bit better than in London. I’ve really enjoyed this one. 90 minutes later it was all over and I’ve to wait till next year as Ace promissed to us, that he would be back, why? Because Ace told you so…

Setlist: Rip It Out, Parasite, Snow Blind (incl. I Want You ending) Rock Soldiers, Breakout, Into The Void, Strange Ways, Shout It Out Loud, New York Groove, 2000 Man, Shock Me, Rocket Ride, Deuce, Love Gun, Cold Gin (incl. Black Diamond ending)

Enjoy the photo's...

KISS Live In Mannheim 10-6-2008

KISS Live In Mannheim:

This was my second show I attended of this Euro tour. Together with Marina (who I did the Meet & Greet with in Oberhausen) we saw I awesome show again, we were right in front of the left side of  the stage and had a great view of everything that happened, like that Gene was brushing his hair several times, lol. Paul’s voice sounded great to me and he was smiling all the time, the guys had a great time. They played the same setlist as the nights before. With standing on the left side, very close to the confetti cannons, when they went off, oh man it was as everything was white, this was so cool.  I had a great time and was back in my KISS rush again, caused by this follow up after our Meet & Greet in Oberhausen…

Marina & me had our M&G photo’s with us and we the only reason we did that is because we wanted to get them signed by KISS So, only to figure out how we could get those 2 pics to KISS So the only one who could help me was Doc or Dean, it all depends wich one I would see first, so it was Dean and we had the to go for a Soundcheck at the last moment, but when we talked about it with Dean he said all Soundchecks were now official cancelled. So I had to come up with another plan right now.

So I waited till everyone had their M&G instructions and went to Dean again, simply asked him if he could do anything for us, explained to him that we did a M&G with KISS in Oberhausen on may 9th. He asked us to show him the pics, so we did and to our big suprise he took them with him and said to us that he would do his best for us We had to look for him after the M&G session this night or come over to him next day in Oberhausen (told him that I was there too) So we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Because of the good spots right before the stage that night in Oberhausen we didn’t leave to find Dean, but I would find him the day after in Oberhausen.

Almost at the end of the show we saw Dean taking pics at the front of the stage, he saw us and waved to us. Later that night he came to us with a envelop containing our pictures, and said to us that KISS did sign them for us So, after the show we looked at the signed pics (see it on my site, as it’s 1 of the headphoto’s) and could not believe how cool they looked now signed by Gene, Paul, Eric & Tommy This was for sure the topping on the cake, we can thank Dean not enough to do this for us!

They played over 2 hours long and the venue was almost sold out. Merchandise was the same. I also picked up my Live CD from the show and recordings are great! So, here are the photo’s, enjoy…

The Starchild in action in Mannheim…

Here’s the Demon:

Here are Eric & Tommy…

KISS Live In Oberhausen 2:

The day after Mannheim I travelled to Oberhausen, to see them for the third time. It was KISS second date in Oberhausen. This time I had seat ticket right at the right side of the stage with a great view. This emotional show was great again, KISS played over 2 hours and did a real cool version of 100.000 Years. Also Gene almost take a fall on stage! Paul tried to make this "night 2"better as "night 1" with his interacting with the crowd. They where in good spirit again and the crowd was jumping from the start and almost all the sitting people were standing throughout the whole show! The venue was almost sold out. The setlist was the same. Picked up my Live CD and also bought a cool bootleg T-shirt, with on the back all the cities with dates.

Our Meet & Greet With KISS!!!

May 9th 2008, We’ll never forget this day in our lives!!!

Why? This day have changed our lives forever!

Finally we could see a KISS show again, my first one since my last one 7 years ago in Australia! But this kick off show of the Euro tour in Oberhausen (Germany) wasn’t the only reason why this date will allways be special for me…

We also had a meet & greet with Gene, Paul, Eric & Tommy that day! Here's our story!

After a 90 minutes car drive I arrived, together with my brother in a sunny and hot Oberhausen. Checked out the venue and than waited for Marina to arrive, she also did the M&G. We went to the expo to look for KISS stuff ect. Spend a little time there and around 3 pm we were back at the Arena to get our laminate, T-shirt and instructions for the M&G. A very friendly Dean Snowden told me everything I wanted to know and that we had to be back in the venue at 7:30 pm, with our stuff we would like to have signed. So we went to a place to meet friends and with some cool drinks and something to eat (however because of the nerves we almost couldn’t eat) talked to other fans and enjoyed those hrs till it was time for the M&G.

2 days earlier I received a email with the latest M&G details, stated that you could bring guitars in for signing. So I decided to take 1 of my Paul Washburn Guitars with me, along with some records and photo’s. Finally it was time, nerves kicked in now really bad (lol) and together with Marina we got into the venue to the meeting point. With us there were around 20 fans there for the M&G (more than I thought) and at 8 pm we got backstage, to a room, with on the walls the Alive/35 logo and banners with the KISSology DVD’s (this was the same room where the pressconference was on thursday) We got the last instructions from Dean and a copple of minutes later the door went open and with a loud of cheering by us fans, they enter the room…Gene, Paul, Eric & Tommy!!!

The Meet & Greet:

The guys were very kind and thanked us al for coming, first it was time to take the photo with the band. A suprise to us all was that we could also use our own camera to make photo’s!!! When it was my time for the pic I give all the guys a hand and Gene said how are you doing and Paul said something like great to see you, Tommy said welcome and Eric said something too but I cann’t remember what, lol. Time to take my 2 pics with the band and when I saw how my 2 pics have turned out, I couldn’t be more hapier, they’re incredible!

After the photoshoot was over, the guys started to mingle around the fans, so it was time to got my items signed. Paul signed my guitar right away, also his solo picture disc and a photo with me and his self-portrait print. And when he saw that photo, he said that’s really cool! Than Eric & Tommy signed my Rock The Nation DVD and they’re both were very friendly and Tommy is just a great guy, no bad worth about him from me! Last one was Gene and he signed his solo picture disc, Asshole CD and a Family Jewels photo.

The meet & greet was going to its end and the guys got ready to get out of the room very slowly, Paul was the first leaving, with a little later Eric and than Tommy. Gene was still in the room and I was lucky enough to got a photo with him alone, my favorite member! Gene was great and stayed the longest in the room, no arrogance at all.

After the guys where gone (snif) we all got our programm (with a extra photo inside) and to our suprise it was signed by the whole band! And than it was over, it was something special I’ll never forget, it was great to meet the guys in a relax situation, everyone took their time for me and I’m glad I could meet them…

Here is some short footage of my Meet & Greet and Marina’s with KISS
(Note: my photoshoot took longer, this footage shows only a copple of seconds of it!)

The show:

And than it was time for the show, finally the wait was over and when I heard The Who with Won’t Get Fooled Again I knew it was only a copple of minutes before the return of KISS in Europe! We had a good place on the floor, almost at the front – right of the stage. Around 9:25 pm we heard the famous words: Allright Oberhausen, You Wanted The Best…And off it went with Deuce with Gene, Paul & Tommy coming down from a platform. From the start of the show till the end the 12.500 crowd went nuts and I had a great time. The guys looked great, sounded great, performed great, it was one of my best KISS shows I ever saw. The band enjoyed it as much I did, the interacting between the fans and the band was just awesome! Also Tommy did a great guitar solo with playing his guitar behind his head, looked really cool and he was just great on stage! Eric played his drums like it was his second nature. Gene did all the tricks and this time he did his bloody bass solo during I Love It Loud, however Eric started the song while Gene hadn’t started his solo and he turned to Eric to let him stop, lol. Also the curtain on the right side stucked, Gene’s riser went to slow but these where all the little mistakes. Paul did however stole the show, after his heartproblem last year, he jumped, rann, talked as never before, wow what a show! Also this was a show with the most explosions, fireworks and lots of lots of confetti I ever saw at a KISS concert! I had the time of my life! I also saw Doc walking before them stage and along the crowd, he was very nice when I asked if he would go on a photo together with me, no problem.

KISS played first all the Alive! tracks and after that they did songs from after 1975. This is the full setlist:

Deuce, Strutter, Got To Choose, Hotter Than Hell, Firehouse (Gene spits fire) Nothing To Lose (Vocals Eric) C’mon And Love Me, Parasite, She (Tommy’s guitar solo) Watching You, Rock Bottom, 100.000 Years ( Eric’s drumsolo) Cold Gin, Let Me Go Rock & Roll, Black Diamond (Vocals Eric) Rock & Roll All Night. Encores: Shout It Out Loud, Lick It Up (mixed with Won’t Get Fooled Again) Gene’s Bloody Bass Solo, I Love It Loud, I Was Made For Lovin’  You, Love Gun (Paul’s Flying) and Detroit Rock City.

KISS played till 11:40 pm, so about 135 minutes and 22 songs later it was all over, but I and Marina had the best day of my lifes, a historic meet & greet and a killer KISS show. Also my brother who hasn’t see a KISS show before, was very impressed.

Enjoy the photo’s! KISS Live In Oberhausen – Part 1:

KISS Live In Oberhausen – Part 2:

KISS Live In Oberhausen – Part 3:

Last week I got my pics from the meet & greet with KISS in a much bigger size. All I can say they’re looking awesome and I’m very satisfied how they turned out! I’ve them framed in.

* My meet & greet photo is published on the official Paul Stanley site!

Ace Frehley Live In London

On april 11th I went to London to see Ace Frehley live during his new Rocket Ride Tour!!! It’s been 20 (!) years ago when Ace was the last time in the UK for a solo-gig! So I had to be there.

After a trip of 5 hrs with the Eurostar, I was directly in the heart of London, went to my hotel to check-in and than to a restaurant for something to eat. Around 6 pm I was at the Astoria, a old (dirty) venue, but what I’ve understand, had quite some legancy in London…When I saw the line at the Astoria, that went back to around a corner, I thought, oh boy…it will be hard to get a good spot with all those people for me. But, thanks to Billy & Dan from the UK forum, they pulled me into the line, with now only 25 people before me! Thank you both! It was great to talk face to face to them and a lot of other KISS/Ace fans as well, during the wait (I’ve met a lot of people who are – daily – visitors of my site and got a lot of compliments from them and that’s always good to hear. Not only at the show, but also next day; on the street, Starbucks ect) Around 7 pm the doors went open and before I know it I was in the venue, leftside of the stage, almost at the front and I’ve taking some great pics. There was also a balcony. The place was packed, I think it was a sold out show with 2000 fans there…

At 8:45 it was time for the Spaceman, it all started with a countdown from 10 to 1 and there he was…Ace Frehley…kicked in with Rip It Out and the crowd went nuts! Ace was in a good mood and spirit. Hard Times followed and the music was loud! But I didn’t care, it was so awesome to see Ace this close in action! With Parasite the crowd in the middle went crazy (there was a lot of pushing going on ect – but luckily enough where I was it wasn’t) and I saw serveral people who where pulled out of that pushing crowd by secrurity who couldn’t take it anymore. It’s a shame that some people trying to ruining it for other fans…

But back to Ace, as I said before, he was in a good spirit and the band had a lot of funn on stage. For me it was almost unreal that this is/was the same person as in KISS! Looked like these are 2 different people, lol. Ace loosed some weight and he was looking great! Snow Blind (one of my favorite songs) went over to I Want YouAce dedicated Breakout to the greatest KISS drummer, mr. Eric Carr who’s rocking in heaven now. And the fans agreed with that. There was also a medley with some great songs, like Torpedo Girl or Speeding Back To My Baby (another favorite by me) Than Ace started his signature song…New York Groove…complete with the lighted guitar (-solo) of course, ended it with saying it’s actually the London Groove now.

Also another highlight of this show was Shock Me with Ace’s smoking guitar solo and smoked he does, lol. This was awesome to see from almost 2 mtr were I was standing…Last song before the encores was Rocket Ride and the fans still loved it! When the band came back they started with Deuce and it looked that the roof went off, followed by Love Her All I Can and Love Gun, Ace thanked Paul Stanley for writing such a great song! Last song was Cold Gin with a Black Diamond ending and at 10:15 everything was over…But what a time I’ve had, it was loud but great! As I heard from fans who where at the Sheffield show (a day earlier) this London show was way better! After the show was over, fans talked outside the club and in pubs about this historical show. BTW London looked on friday/saturday that it was taking over by the KISS Army, with fans from Holland, Germany, Russia, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France ect.

Here’s the setlist: Rip It Out, Hard Times, Parasite, Snow Blind/I Want You, Rock Solders, Breakout, Into The Void, Strange Ways, Medley: Torpedo Girl – Speeding Back To My Baby – Five Card Stud & Trouble Walkin’, Stranger In A Strange Land, New York Groove (Lighted Guitar) Shot Full Of Rock (Part) 2000 Man, Shock Me (Smoking Guitar Solo) Rocket Ride. Encores: Deuce, Love Her All I Can, Love Gun & Cold Gin/Black Diamond…

Enjoy the photo’s…

Ace Frehley Live In Cologne:

Ace played the same setlist as in London but the band sounded much better! Also the music wasn’t that loud again. This time I enjoyed Ace’s show from a little distance. Ace had a lot of funn. When he did his guitarsolo something went wrong after the smoking guitarpart, and Ace called it some "technical difficulties". The show lasted about 90 minutes. I had a great time, bad that only about 450 people showed up! But KISS played in Berlin that same night…(Pics will be posted later!) When Ace arrived at the venue he had to walk throught the people outside, so he walked right by me, tried to talk to him, but secrurity hold everyone back, but Ace give a tumb up, lol. There was also some merchandise for sale, 2 T-Shirts and 2 posters.

The release was suposed to be last november, but with a delay of 3 months it was now scheduled for februari. It took almost 3 weeks from the US, through the UK to reach Holland and after wait another 4 days, caused by "carnaval" over here, it finaly reach it’s final destination…my home!
I’m talking about the Ace Frehley Exclusive Premium Sideshow Figure! The package was about 70 cm x 50 cm and heavy. They double boxed it and here you see the original package design:

First you see the front, than the side and the back, below you see what’s written on it:

So it was now time to open the box and when I had the very good wrapping open, I saw a glimp of Ace:

Because my Ace is a Exclusive Premium Figure it has 2 bases and are packed on both sides of the figure. These Exclusive Premium figures are numbered & limited to 200 (!) As you can see at the back on this base (front has KISS-logo on it) I’ve number 85…

So after I took the Ace figure out of the wrapping material, I finally see how he turned out. Below you’ll see a closer look at Ace back…

Material that was used to create this figure were; real fabric, polystone, rhinestone, sequins & metal. Take a look at Ace from the side…

And finally…here’s the Spaceman…20"/50 cm high and quite heavy!

A closer look to his boots, you can acually see the zipper. Also you see the other base…

A close up to Ace face and chest. Take notice of the expressions on his face and details at his Destroyer costume…

So here’s my complete KISS Exclusive Premium Sideshow Figure set
